| A friend ended up with a Radical Firearms ar15 and it's giving him some issues with stuck cases and not fully going in to battery. Every couple of rounds one will get stuck slightly OOB and he has to really work to get it out. He's using brass cased 55gr Hornady ammo and is going to try a couple of different brands this evening. Personally I think it's a chamber issue. Thoughts? |
| It does sound like a chamber issue. I would give Radical a chance to fix it first. If they don't, then I would hook a chamber brush up to a drill and give it a good run to smooth everything out see if that helps. If that doesn't work then take it to a good gunsmith and have him run a chamber reamer in it. |

Quoted: He got it in a trade but it's still worth a shot. Quoted: Quoted: Contact Radical Firearms and report the problem? He got it in a trade but it's still worth a shot. Was it new? I built an SPR last year that had the same issues. After me and another member here messed around with it, it turned to be something (probably some minute obstruction) in the chamber and after a GOOD cleaning, the issue went away and has been GTG ever since. |

Friends don't let friends buy Radical......their shit sucks.....this is well documented.....carry on and good luck! & by well documented you mean some giessele reaction rod users managed to pry their barrel extensions loose TWO YEARS AGO. I have been shooting an RF upper for three years now without issue. Just like the craft beer thread, you should probably comment less on things you have 0 experience with & know nothing about. Also, learn to punctuate. |

You don't get out much...... Update: Radical Firearms took care of us. Replaced the bolt carrier (loose gas key from shooting) and replaced the 10.5" 7.62x39 barrel (loose extension from shooting). The replacements look way better than before. The gas port on this replacement is shiny, indicating it was drilled *AFTER* meloniting (in which, extension torqued after meloniting too). I can say with confidence that their early line of barrels were not made correctly. I have 1 more older barrel that is is a family build, I will keep an eye on it. I just don't want the extension to twist to where it becomes a temporary blowback and cause injury. Or for the casing to eject very prematurely, causing an explosion outside of the chamber. Thanks Radical Firearms for making it right. I used bold since you suck at reading & everything else. |

I've seen enough of these threads that I wouldn't ever consider buying anything from them
It's good to get this out there They don't seem very proactive about the whole thing, that's for sure Barrel extensions coming loose seems to be a common problem with them.
I bought a Radical barrel, it didn't pass headspace check so I sent it back. Could've gotten a screaming deal on a Radical Firearms rail and bcg last night. I passed it up because I knew about their barrel issues and wouldn't even consider using their bcg. why would you buy a RF anything when there are many other companies you can get quality products from for almost the same price.
Tool Craft, AIM BCG's PSA premium stuff ALG EMR rails etc I would rather pay a couple bucks(really not even that much) more and be sure of my rifle and components then try and scrape the bottom of the barrel and hope everything works well, all to save 7$ on a BCG FPNI, failure threads have been popping up for as long as I can remember seeing their name.
They'll never see a dime of my money. |

sold my unmounted RF barrel for a profit and bought a BA barrel. I don't have time for that shit
There have been enough reports, all anecdotes, that at this point it's fair to assume they have either a knowledge base gap or a real qa/qc problem. Yup. I have seen MANY of their barrel extensions come loose on this site. I would avoid Radical like the plague. I was there a couple of years ago and everyone there was a douchebag. I've seen enough threads like this that I'm kind of surprised that Primary Arms is still carrying their stuff. |

Back to Radical Firearms...
I purchased one of their adjustable gas blocks that was undersized at the main bore. It sat in my spare parts for a few months before I attempted to use it. Radical would not take it back. Thankfully, Primary Arms did exchange it. I still buy from Marshall & Primary Arms, but not Radical products. I got one of their barrels from Primary Arms. When I was torqueing down the barrel nut, the index pin sheared off with a loud "CRACK!" Scared the shit out of me. I thought I trashed the upper too, but there was no marks on it. I contacted Primary Arms and sent it back. I had a new barrel from them in a couple of weeks. It is still a Radical Firearms Barrel though. Being in Houston, we bought their stuff when around 2013 when parts were low. Their stuff was very plentiful locally. We thought we'd support local business and give them a try. Slowly, parts started falling apart. From the first loose gas key, I've been telling everyone about their shit products.
I have one RA item- a 308 bcg I bought brand new. The gas key came loose, I sent RA an email hoping they would take it back reattach and restake. This is the exact reply I got in all its entirety, copy and pasted from the email: "they need to be tightened to 55 inch lbs.."
Thanks. I ended up buying a new gas key screws and did it myself (good thing I have an inch pound torque wrench) so not a huge deal, but it would have been nice to have some kind of product support. |

Ok, post other people comments all you want, thats just making you look even more redundant by going of other peoples word then actually putting your stinking hands on one. IF I went by what other people said in life I'd get nowhere. The way you're quoting people only makes me think if someone told you the moon was pink and Jupiter was closer to the sun then Venus was you'd believe them wholeheartedly
Put your hands on one before you open your mouth with an opinion about it. |

I got a barrel from them that was packed with hardened salts left over from the nitriding process. This barrel came un-torequed just by shooting it. As the other one did.
The two bolt carriers had their gas keys loosen just by shooting. The point is that CS begrudgingly replaced the uppers with verbiage along the lines of "you didn't remove the FH in accordance with our directions so we normally void the warranty....".
Really? We'll let's look at that. The FH is spec'd at 15-20 ft lbs. The bbl extension is spec'd at 140-155 ft lbs. The CS rep explained that because melonite is so slipery the extension will unscrew before the FH. I call bullshit. I call shoddy assembly, shoddy to point of being dangerous. You guys need to get your shit together. If melonite in some way defeats the physics of torque then stop using it. Way too many folks are having problems with your uppers. I was an early adopter, got my RF upper june 2014 & paired it with an anderson lower + aim BCG for a budget build.
Gas block came loose after my first range trip |
RF has had issues in the past...get over it.

The fact is that this wasn't a minor blip. RF fucked up and fucked up bad. That, to some extent, is understandable. What is totally unacceptable was the way they handled the problem. Perhaps the lawyers said to admit nothing? Don't know and don't care.
They should have come clean, found those uppers that were released during the period that the drunk monkies were assembling them and did formal recall. Folks should have gotten an email or tel call that said "we fucked up. Please send that piece of shit back to us and we'll replace it with one that is right, on our nickel" But that's not what happened. Instead they threw up a smoke screen, covered their ass and obfuscated the issue. I'm sure that there's a bunch of bad uppers still out there. The fact that some guy with 20 posts, who clearly doesn't know guns, is posting here means jack shit. He's paid to mitigate this stuff. Let one of the owners show up here or senior gunsmiths and then we'll talk. So keep the white knight bull shit. This was a major fuck up and RF needs to do more that to send some 20 post kid onto ARFCOM to apologize. Show me the recall. Show me where they really tried to make this right. Maybe I missed it but I don't think so. I have a friend who has a 10.5 12.7 upper that is short stroking, he said he couldn't find a number on your webpage and had to google your company to get the info, I see that you don't list a phone number on your site, just an email contact, and honestly I had to search around for your phone number when I was having problems with my 12.7 (Which your company did fix), He also says his emails he sent were not returned.
My barrel didn't come lose but my upper was out of spec wouldn't fit on 3 lowers they said its was fine. i replaced it with a stripped upper and it worked fine but it just turned me off so i sold it off.
i steer everyone away from Radical same with PTAC. |

Damn y'all are trying hard to get this locked
I have yet to see the rifle in person and won't be able to for a few days. The rifle was used and I have no idea how many rounds are through it. I told him to throughly clean the chamber and try it again. Don't shoot the messenger......especially with a Radical Arms upper |

Well yea, ya got someone who is an apparent female bringing up shit from none other then the past without confirming they themselves have handled one. But why should we do things for ourselves when we can live off of what others say
Just seems weird after all that was posted that mine hasn't had a single one of those issues. |

Don't shoot the messenger......especially with a Radical Arms upper thanks for all the random quotes in the event that anyone here mistook you for someone with actual knowledge or experience. my friend just bought one of their $500 carbines earlier this month, 0 issues on our first range trip. you are welcome to stand downrange while I demonstrate my fully functional RF build. I will even let you empty a few mags if you're still standing, but I would appreciate if you could wash the cheetos dust off your fingers before touching my firearms. |
