Currently own a Daniel Defense M4V5LW and am looking to get another AR.

I like different looking guns/variants compared to purchasing multiples of the exact same gun (ex. WASR+NPAP over WASR+WASR). I like variety, with that said at the end of the day I'd like to have two AR's in different configurations (grip, rails, etc).

I've been looking at the:
Smith & Wessen M&P15
FNH FN15
Colt LE6920

I've been hearing bad things about modern day Colt finish/quality which is why the other two brands are on my list as well. I'd obviously rather have a Noveske, LaRue, KAK over the above brands but they are also almost twice the price. If we are in the $2000 territory I'd be looking at an X95.

I haven't heard anything bad about colt finishes. What have you heard? You would be well served with the Colt or FN. Colt and FN have much better barrels than the SW

Get the 6920 and get that out of the way.

You an AR guy? That's a great one to have.

Variety is good!  I survived with two rifles in the late 90's - HD & competition.  I learned quickly it's good to have similar set-ups with firearms.  Clint Smith:  One is none, two is one and three is a good idea.  I have two 1911's built exactly the same (two G17) and two AR's set-up similar.  I have variety with my 3G rifle and a "clone" Mk12 inspired build.

You have a solid DD in hand with options for optics.  I say it comes down to if you want a FSB or BUIS.  FSB = Colt 6920.  Hard to beat a Colt.  The OEM1 lets you build the rifle the way you want.  My new Colt OEM1's fit and finish was solid.  I bought with a group and all the rifles looked good.

Saving for a Noveske is also good.

Where have you been hearing this?  Nothing has changed on Colt quality in a long time.

I second this.

The "quality" things are neither quality, nor anything new. You just see scuffs on the finish with a lot of Colt ARs. That's it. They run great.

I just wanted to thank y'all regards responses. I've been leaning towards the Colt mainly due to the brand name.

I would say I'm an AK guy as I have more of those then ARs, but I like them equally. The AK for its simplicity and wood furniture and the AR for it's light weight, accuracy, and it's unlimited furniture options.

Looks like I'll be looking for a LE6920 without furniture so I can piece it together to taste.
