My first post, what an awesome sight.
I have a couple of AR's, but, I Just bought a pre-ban, my first, and I have a couple of questions if you don't mind! There is a block that says Colt behind the hammer, that sits on the shelf. Also, the extra pin above the pivot pin that goes thru the block that says Colt, what is its purpose? Thanks guys |

As fulautotank stated it's to prevent the installation of an auto-sear. There are a few different versions of the Colt sear block. Yours is one of the older versions. https://app.box.com/shared/static/mqq1lq827n.jpg If it really bothers you, it can be removed legally by a smith that knows what he is doing, but it really isn't worth the trouble IMO. More recent Colt lowers simply don't finish milling-out the "shelf". https://app.box.com/shared/static/ne5gnc4mcc.jpg ... Quoted:

Thanks Molon love all the work and knowledge you give us. Was going to post that to your last thread then it got locked because someone wanted to argue your data. I am an analytical person to love any sort of data and have gained a lot of knowledge from your posts. Keep them coming!! |
