HI need some help with my build ok I have a spr gun I built has a 18 in 223 Wilde barrel rifle length gas tube
I had a apex stock with standard weight buffer and spring A2 style shot 20 rounds though the gun ran flawless brass flew 6 ft back from 3 to 5 o'clock generally with hardly no kick I was thoroughly impressed with my first build

Now I changed the butt stock to a carbine length 6 position B5 system for the summer I need to know what spring and buffer weight to run in this new stock to match as close to what I had in the other set up I have no way of weighing the a2 buffer so I need some help from all you gurus thank you very much

I'd try a std carbine (3oz) and a spikes t2 (4 oz) and decide which you like better.

Rifle gas is going to make for a soft shooter regardless.  I've got a t2 in my spr setup and I can't tell much difference.  Same buffer in my mid-length carbine really smoothed it out.

Carbine buffer (3 oz.) and GI spring runs fine in my 18" rifle-gas build, and should in yours, too.

With a carbine stock you have a carbine buffer tube. With a carbine buffer tube you must run a carbine buffer and carbine spring. The only question is which carbine buffer. Because of your rifle gas, I would suggest the standard unmarked buffer. You only need the heavy buffers for the shorter gas systems with stronger impulses.

Standard rifle spring and standard rifle buffer (5.2 oz) = standard carbine spring and H6 carbine buffer (5.2 oz)  I'm assuming you know that in a carbine length tube you use the carbine spring and shorter carbine buffer.

An H3 carbine buffer would probably work also, it weighs 5.4 oz.

Who makes a quality spring and If I understand right an H3 buffer is going to be the closest weight to my A2 standard buffer in my old set up

Damage Industries makes an excellent quality CS (carbon silicon) carbine spring for about $12.  They are supposed to be good for like 500K cycles.  Damage has 1/2 price sales fairly often on these springs if you check their website.

H6 carbine buffer weighs exactly the same as a std rifle buffer.  H3 is .2 oz heavier.
