I see pics of a lot of SAM-R's with a low profile gas block, well at least clones.... How correct is this? I really don't have the funds or the interest in 500.00 for a KAC flip up sight that may or may not be legit lol......

The KAC flip up is legit...............it's just nearly impossible to get.  They don't make them anymore, and even when they did they were not produced in large numbers for civilians.

Get the PRI.  Charlie can't tell the difference.

That's what I'm trying to convince myself.

I haven't seen any functional fakes out there.  The only one I know that is sold that looks like it that isn't an airsoft one is Colt, and neither it nor the airsoft ones have a hole drilled for the air from the port into the gas block.  Also, none of those that I have seen have a spring to flip up on their own power.  If your worried I would just make them take pictures of those things.  You can also tell because the airsoft and Colt gas blocks are made out of alluminum where the KAC one is steel.

Honestly if you want that look and want to clone, than a MK18 Mod 0 is easier to source parts for and similar in weight and ability.  Both are cool.

Get the Walther and drill your own gas port.

Nope. If you want a SAM-R, the KAC FSGB is the only option.

You could always build a mk12 mod1 and not have to worry about it.

I put my SAM-R clone together in 2007. I used a set of Larue handguards and the PRI gasblock. Several years later i changed out to the KAC FF rails and the KAC FSB

The rails and sight are the parts that really make it the clone.  You can go with a different rail, or substitute a different folding sight, but you aren't going to have a clone.  You will just have a custom build or frankengun.

If you have the chance to buy the correct FSB, get it.  It's what makes it a SAM-R. Its also cool as shit too!
