[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Spikes (Page 1 of 2)

| Is anyone still buying spikes uppers or lowers? I used to read that they were BCM and DD biggest competitor but rarely hear of them now. |
|
I've got 3 builds using spikes stripped lowers and their stripped uppers. I have one lower from them that I can't use as no uppers I've tried will close on it with the takedown/pivot pins in place.
That said, I've been happy with my spikes parts. I've used their LPKs and love that they use spiral roll pins instead of the split ones. I think you don't hear as much from them as before because they have been pretty busy keeping up with demand. I think they once had a 10-12 week wait time posted on their website but look to be mostly caught up now. |

In this case; No news is good news. I'm not a fan of the over-the-top billet lowers they've started making( to each his own) but their quality is top notch. I have a pair of forged lowers, an ST upper, and several LPK's that have been absolutely faultless. I've built 4 lowers uppers with no issues. Have a dozen of their lowers in the safe, too. |
| I have their complete 10 inch .300 BLK upper receiver. Works flawlessly so far with supersonic and subsonic ammo but that is what I expected. I haven't tried supressed yet. I wouldn't buy another Spike's as the market is already saturated with so much competition. |
| I assembled a rifle using their upper, lower, CH, and BCG. It functioned perfectly with M855. I also have a factory assembled mid length from them that also functions perfectly with M855. Not too long ago they were one of the top recommended here when people would ask for suggestions. Guess with market saturation people get bored and move on to other products. IME they produce a good product. |

I've been looking at adding a spikes Rifle to my rotation and I have read several times about the lower being out of spec. The rifle I posted above used to have a PSA lower on it that had a very sloppy fit with the upper. I swapped the upper and furniture onto that Spike's lower and now there is no slop. Of course, I realize full and well that there exists stacked tolerances as that's just the nature of machining/manufacturing. The LPKs and aftermarket improvements (Geissele trigger, Norgon ambi catch) went into both the PSA and Spike's lowers flawlessly. It could very well be that if I were to try another PSA lower on that upper, it might have a better fit, but I'm quite happy with this Spike's lower. |

Spike's is GTG, their Customer Service is by far the best in the Industry.
I've seen threads here where a member has an issue with a defective small part from another vendor and Tom offers to go ahead and replace it. I see all of the threads where people complain about them marking everything with their Spider logo. Hell if I owned Spike's I'd do the same thing, be proud of your company! And yes, I own several Spike's products and they've been FLAWLESS! |

Built one of my first rifles on a Spike's Honey Badger and currently looking for a Calico Jack to start my next one! Very tight fit with a PSA upper, has been excellent so far.
Spike's has been keeping a low profile lately, but to me it seems as they always had - BCM and DD seems to advertise a lot more. |
| I put together a standard(Spider emblem) Spikes lower receiver for my brother and it went together and has performed flawlessly. I just picked up a Crusader lower for myself and love the look of it. I can't comment on the functionality of the Crusader lower yet but I don't expect to run into any issues. |

Build 5-6 guns and own 5 stripped lowers from them. They're perfect, try milspec. Can't recommend them highly enough. Between spikes, Aero, BCM and DD, there are allot of good choices for forged lowers. Same here. I've used stripped lowers from different companies, and Spikes have consistently been the best. I don't recall having any problems with them at all. Also like the Jolly Roger and Punisher rollmarks for a little variety. |

They are a "go-to" manufacturer for my limited needs. I have always experienced top notch quality with parts purchased from them. Add to that the fact that they are just nice people and it keeps me coming back. Here's my home built zombie lower with an ST-LE 16" Upper. I added an ST-SAR to the upper after the fact. It serves as both my competition and HD carbine currently, I trust it that much... http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=59661 Nice rifle Greyguy! |
