Will a flash hider mounted directly on the muzzle/crown vs the shoulder of a barrel affect accuracy?

I do not think that means what you think it means (barrel shoulder)

Could you offer an example?  Not quite grasping your terminology.  Are we discussing threaded barrel flash hiders or something else?  A photo or two would help.

you mean like a clamp on device (as if the barrel wasn't threaded?)

This is what I was referring to:

How well does the R3L-long flash hider work with the Scar 17. What is different about its design that allows it to mount to the thin shoulder? Will this work on the Razor 7.62?

Thank You!

It works fantastic - but I'm biased. It shoulders on the barrel crown instead of the shoulder.

Where the flash hider would normally shoulder on a standard barrel, we've machined it larger to go over the barrel then it seats on the muzzle of the barrel.

Yes, all of our muzzle devices work with both the Surge and the Razor.

Oh. The thing that goes up.

No. It's called a SHROUD.

Now I am even more confused.

So, are you asking about a SCAR barrel and FH?

Dupe.  See below.

The crown is the end of the barrel. The shoulder is the flat before the threads.

I saw the info on this R3L. Only time will tell its effect on accuracy.  I am not a fan of having any metal-to-metal contact with the actual crown of a barrel.  I'd be worried that eventually the crown will be damaged  from that contact either during installation or from percussion hammering against it with every round fired.  I'm not a Scar 17 owner, so I'm not conversant with specific barrel and flash hider limitations.  I do have a healthy respect for protecting the barrel crown, however.  You are right to be asking the question.

Right.....the crown is the face of the muzzle and the shoulder is the flat surface 90 degree perpendicular to the threads.

looks like it's not an option if you have any of the other suppressors on the market, so I'm not really worried about it.

it's R3Ls thing, so if you want to QD their suppressors, you're pretty much going to be stuck with it.
