| I've been looking at a slick side upper from Joebob's and like the idea. I'm wondering who else produces them? Are there any forged options? |
|
The cheapest forged I found is a palmetto. If they're out of stock look for a DPMS.

Anderson Rifles is an option of you're looking for one with no forward assist and no cartridge deflector but you DO want an ejection port cover. No T-marks, but it does have modest feedramps. 7075-T6 aluminum forging.

I converted both of my 6.8 AR's to Paletto's Slick sided uppers and I am completely satisfied with them.
I don't think any of those abortive after-thoughts are necessary. Garands or M1 Carbines or M1 Thompsons or even M-14's ever needed "dust covers" and they were never known to have caused problems in their time. The closed bolt covers the ejection port. It makes for a sleeker profile and the deflector doesn't poke you in the back when slung. Regarding the deflector, my left-handed daughter shot them an the empties sailed passed her right cheek every time. |

Thank you! Says it does. I have one of those Anderson upper receivers. It does have M4-style feedramps. Looking at them in comparison to an Aero Precision upper receiver that I also have, it looks to me like the Anderson is not as aggressively ramped, but the ramps are there. As I noted above, the Anderson upper receiver is not T-marked (certainly no big deal, to me anyway). My Ballistic Advantage barrel was very tight going into the Anderson upper receiver (I had to tap it in with a nylon-headed hammer), but the ramps on the upper and the M4 ramps on the barrel extension lined up fine. Somewhat curiously (to me anyway), the rear takedown lug is neatly engraved (before finishing) with what looks to me like "7.4". I'm not really familiar with Anderson Rifles, so I don't know if this is something Anderson did or if it's some subcontractor's mark. I know that it was common for Bushmaster to put a letter (L, O, Y, or an inverted T) in this same location. |

Thank you! I received 2 Anderson slickside receivers with port door last week and it does have M4 feedramps. They align perfectly with BCM barrel that I have, and a fatboy tactical fluted stainless barrel also. |
