Help: I built an anderson lower and mated it to a colt factory 6902 upper with colt bcg. When I put a PMAG into the rifle it doesn't go all the way up to battery unless I pull the charging handle back, then the mag will lock in place. Also I used a GI mag and it will lock in but I have to violently slam it up. It's not like my SBR at all. Thanks for any input

Have you tried different mags to include steel vs poly? Are you loading the mags to max?(if so try taking a few rounds out).
Check the mag catch movement and position when mag is inserted, there are certain instances when removal of a bit of the catch will allow it to engage properly as the lower or catch may be out of spec. You can obviously also replace the catch itself.

Fully loaded mags or empty mags? Are you sure you only have 30rds in the mag?

Is the resistance coming from the mag well or the bottom of the BCG?

My Spikes rifles does the same thing with pmags, my RRA does not have this issue at all, and a custom build I did will with GI mags but not pmags.  Download the mag 1-2 rounds and it will lock in.

PMAGs are intentionally designed with additional space in the mag to allow easier loading on a closed bolt alleviating the need to download to 28-29 as was common practice with USGI mags especially when doing tactical (closed bolt) reloads.

Unfortunately as you found out, that additional space allows for an extra round or two to be crammed in there

For future reference, when using AR mags, the top rd should be on the right if you have an even number of rds. If you always load 28 or 30 rds, you can use this to know if your rifle is loaded in total darkness, by dropping the mag and feeling if the top rd is on the left (indicating the first round is in the chamber).
