Newly registered user to the forum here. I've followed the forum for a few years, getting info here and there, but I have never needed to ask a question. So, here is it. I currently have an Olympic Arms K16QR that has a mid-length gas system. I would like to swap my upper out to a carbine length gas upper, probably a Bushmaster. With my buffer being a standard A2 rifle buffer at 5.2 oz, I assume (I could be wrong, let me know if I am) I can continue to use the same buffer. As far as the spring goes, I'm not sure if I can still use the one I have. Would I need a heavier spring to deal with the added recoil going from a mid to carbine gas system upper? My biggest concern is reliable cycling, but less felt recoil would be an added, but unneeded perk. Thank you for any help I can get. Happy Shooting!

It'll be just fine the way it is.

Excellent! That is sort of what I figured, but I thought 2 or more heads would be better than one. Especially if I were missing something. Thanks again!

The question remains - what buffer tube do you have now? The assumption is you have a rifle tube, buffer and spring, and possibly a fixed rifle stock. If that is true, the carbine-gas upper will shoot fine in that lower.

As long as the correct tube, spring, and buffer are used it doesn't matter what kind of upper is attached

Yep.  You have a rifle receiver extension (buffer tube) so the rifle buffer and spring are correct no matter which upper you use.
