Yes a double feed is normally to do with the magazine. The most common culprit is bent magazine lips. In USGI magazines with the tilting follower the most typical is keeping 30 rounds in it and attempting to load it. Just down load to 29 and you're fine. Basically 1 in the chamber, 28 in the magazine is a good bet it won't double feed on you.

This is assuming you removed every other possibilities such as not enough lube. Just get another magazine to determine if the problem is to do with the magazine itself.
