I'm sure I saw a kit available a while back that had an adjustable buffer weight.  You could swap out weights to make the buffer different weights.  I don't want to run this permanently, but use it for diagnosis and load development to determine the best final weight to run. Anyone know where I can find this or was I dreaming?  Thanks!

It's called buy a standard carbine buffer and an H3 buffer, and swap the weights from the H3 into the carbine one at a time till you find the ideal weight.

Holy hell kids, it's not rocket surgery.  Good thing someone came out with a solution to this non-problem though, eh?

explain to me why this would ever be a better option than turning an adj gas block one click at a time vs ripping your upper off and messing around with a buffer.

adj the gas, its faster

Because, I can take a buffer that is adjustable, put in into someone else's rifle that doesn't have an adjustable gas block, and diagnose issues with their rifle.  I can also diagnose issues on rifles that have pinned front sights that aren't adjustable.  What about for a rifle that has a pinned muzzle device that doesn't allow for gas block removal?
