I'm almost two years new to the MSR. I have Five small frame and one large frame builds under my belt. With two more small frame receiver set's and a large frame lower, waiting in the safe for something to be done to them.

With my first build, I spec'd out a build list, that was supposed to be a low budget build. Well, once I dove into the available parts (so many cool, trick parts), the low budget list went out the window. And with the next five builds after, I swore to myself, each would be a low budget build. Nope, didn't happen on any of them. Back to the trick parts available.

So, I got to thinking about it some. Did I need AR nonymous intervention? Nah, I didn't need that, or do I? :)

The MSR is a cool platform, that is highly flexible. Unlike many of my other firearms, that I can only do so much to, without having mad gunsmith skills. I can change every aspect of a MSR, and all it takes is some common sense, the ability to read and watch DIY vids, have a working knowledge of the tools needed. And of course money (which runs short most of the time).

One of the most valuable tools is ar15.com. To this day, I do lots of reading here. Not only about the MSR, I also read about everything I own or, I might be thinking about purchasing.  Continued education never hurts. And the end result is like the rifles bellow.

A big thanks to all that participate here. You've helped a middle aged guy greatly.

My latest build, mostly Spikes Tactical

Nice rifles. It's cool that nowadays the size and scale of the market means you can get what you want.

When I first really got into ARs back around 2007, $800 would get you a basic DPMS or Bushmaster carbine. Nowadays that budget will get you a build with a modular free float rail, Magpul furniture, a 1/7-8 twist barrel, and a good quality BCG.

Nice builds. I was at a point where I couldn't stop buying new AR's and in one month alone, I bought (3) factory SBR's, 4 complete uppers, and 6 lowers. It was funny cause that was the first and only time ever that I got a conditional hold when I went to buy a handgun a few days later. I guess it was fishy that I bought so much in one month. That was about ten years ago and since then, I've heavily consolidated my collection and just rotate my favorites.

What I would definitely suggest is to look into taking classes. I take 2 a year and it's definitely a wise investment while you build up your collection cause you will be able to see the fruits of your labor if your builds can withstand hard use. It also allowed me to find out what works best for me with my gear. I take both Carbine, handgun, and Precision classes and always come away with something I can work on to get better.

What is an MSR? Isn't that an expensive bolt gun made by Remington Defense?

There is no cure.

I have found a way to put the disease into submission.

Yep, a medication expressly for this purpose.

It's just been approved after a 10 year clinical trial here at my clinic.

It's called, Brokeassacillin. It's 87% effective.

I've also tested it on musical instrument and recording hobbies, and have applied it to drag racing.

There is a new formula if you're allergic, called Amoxanopottopissin.

As there is no standardized pricing for Brokeassacillin, we are willing to work with you here at Pavlov Labs LLC. With what it costs in research dollars today, this drug would be thousands of dollars a month, but, we have an easy payment plan.

You simply look up the parts and the prices you desire, and you send the payment to our lab. As a bonus, this will get you a monthly newsletter, and will give you 1/10 of 1/10 of 1/10 of 1% of the company, with stock options.

Don't wait, get straight today, call Pavlo Labs, and 1-877-178-2537, or 1-877-1SU-CKER

Its an attempt to put black rifles in a more positive light by making it sound less scary to the general population. It's not an "assault rifle", it's a "modern sporting rifle". At least believe that's the intention. Semantics.

I believe it was a a naming attempt by some in the industry to try and break the Evil Black Rifle / Assault Rifle stigma. I heard it a few times after Sandy Hook in media interviews by those trying to defend the reasons people in competitions use AR's.

ETA: Too slow and looks like Riddle beat me to it.

The Daniel Defense sights are sweet. Haven't had a chance to put them to use yet. Hopefully soon. From the start, the rifle was going to be open sights only. Was going to use MBUS but, I wanted something different. So I went with the DD's. If I do another open sight only build, I might look at PRI Fixed AR Sights

Every time I buy a new upper I question why.

When I try to do just an upper, I have good intentions of doing just that. Then I talk myself into doing a whole rifle because I don't want to hassle swapping things out (like two pins are a big hassle). Yep, it's an addiction.
