I'm considering picking up a Timney trigger and I'm having a hard time deciding between the 3lb and 4lb versions.  Primary use will be some some local 3 gun and rifle matches.  I'm thinking lighter is better, but I also don't want it to be too light for running and gunning type shooting.  I'm currently using a 2-stage trigger, and the long first stage is nice for the added margin of safety, but I think a single stage will work better for my intended use, and be a bit faster.

I would lean towards a 4lb, I've used the Timney 3lb and no longer own it.

Thanks Stick.  I take it you didn't like it?  What were your impressions?

To light, but I guess if you had really soft hands it might not be as bad.  Myself, several other instructors and team guys, and a few guys off the marksman element all felt the same way.

WOW!

I own, and use a Timney 3lb. in a 10.5" SBR. It runs great. Haven't had a problem with it in several thousand rounds. I've always preferred a light trigger for short range, though. Slightly heavier for long range.

I've dropped my rifle, thrown my rifle, my rifle was once slung off of a flipping 4 wheeler, and it has never unintentionally discharged. Pretty good trigger IMO.

Totally agree. However, I've had mine for 8 years, so I've gotten comfy with it.

Still lightning fast, very light, shortest reset I've seen on a trigger. Straight up looking to get good groups at range, look into the 4lb model, or a two-stage from a different manufacturer.
