I found a mark on the follower of one of my mags I was shooting with today. More like a small gouge. Is this is a sign of short stroking?

Rifle is properly lubed and maintained. Shooting federal 193. Pmag 20.

Probably just a small burr on a casing.  That wouldn't be from short stroking.

Is this just one mag or are all of your mags getting similar marks?

I was in a rush getting out here and only brought the mag that was in the rifle. This is a brand new mag though.

If you want to know if it's short stroking, load one round in mag and fire. Does it lock back? Do this multiple times to check if locking back. Has it been having feeding issues?

No malfunctions thus far. I've just never seen marks on the followers or anything. I figured that maybe the bolt slightly grazed it when coming back on an empty mag.

That's nothing to worry about man. Just a sharp case rim catching it on the way out.

Yep.  Magazines are wear items.  As such, they will wear.

You're using the magazine as a rest.  The magazine is being forced up high enough so a bolt lug catches the follower on the last shot before it locks back.

When did I say that I was using the magazine as a rest? I was actually shooting offhand @50yds.

Not to mention the fact that there is absolutely noting wrong with using the magazine as support in the prone
