Boy those sure make me nervous. Hard to see how ATF would be ok with that, but what do I know....

I thought about running one of those with a cheek saddle on my CQBR pistol, but due to my current location decided it was too risky. I just run the cheek saddle by itself to be on the side of caution.

Technically it would be fully legal to run both, but you get the jist.

I got the KAC trigger guard installed in that Daniel Defense lower just now.

It looks pretty nice against that KAC 2 stage I picked up for $70

I did some futzing around and installed MI Grip Covers on an MLOK Handguard. Seems pretty solid. Also installed a Bravo Gun Fighter VFG.

The panels look slightly warped when torqued down. This is because the handguard is more of an octagon shape, instead of a circle. While the covers are rounded. IMO this worked out fine, and in a way made things a little more comfortable for my purposes. Think "palm swells", but not the crappy kind that are uncomfortable.

For the VFG I used one of those RVG to MLOK rail sections. They sit very flush with the handguard. I cut off maybe an eight of an inch of it as well. So now now it's mounted like this.
The rail actually sits inside the VFG when it is fully locked up. Also I embarassingly stripped out the Torx head, so I got another one at the hardware store. It's a bit longer but this actually worked out wonderfully. The screw ended up tapping into the polymer rail section. Looks almost as flush as the Keymod version.

It has 4 points to clamp onto the handguard. The rail section that slides on it, the VFG itself (the rail is partially inside the upper part of the grip as it's tightened), and the set screw that is tapped into the polymer rail, and the MLOK screws that fix the rail to the handguard.

Nothing major. But I like it more than a Magpul AFG

Received a package

Swapped scopes between rings and rifles, rough aligned them until I can strip both rifles down and paint in the future. Early SPR now has the Bushnell 3-12, Mod 0 received my old SWFA 3-9.

The Mega Slide Lock CH came in the mail today so I mocked up the KAC E3 barrel and BCG with it and put it on a Daniel Defense lower with a KAC non-adjustable 2 stage trigger.

It has enough purchase on each side to comfortably run either LH or RH even when the upper receiver has been machined for a Forward Assist.

My other E3 built rifle has a MUR without the F/A and the Raptor CH and it is just a bit easier to use LH.

This CH will be employed on another E3 assembly I have coming from the EE which has a KAC SR-15 legacy upper and this barrel and BCG will be headed onto an Anderson slick-side upper and be shot on a Quentin Defense lower with a Geissele SD-C.  The KAC URX 3.1 13.5" I have coming from the EE will be also installed on that Quentin/Geissele/Anderson/Mega/LMT mutt

Well so far today I have transferred parts from my spikes lower to my new Aero Precision lower so that I will now have a complete Aero Precision mid-length rifle. I have a few more goodies to add to the upper when I get home.   I plan on sbring the Spikes lower now

Aero Precision gen2 lower
It started as a Daniel defense lpk
Bcm buffer tube
Spikes st-t2
Replaced the standard carbine spring with a Jp tuned extra power spring.
Troy ambidextrous mag release
Pof usa enhanced bolt release
Gisele g2s trigger
Bad ass selector
Aero Precision billet Trigger guard

Got her all assembled:

And now she's painted:

I installed a brand spanking new Colt SOCOM bbl with FSB on my FSP Block II, as well as a brand new Matech and pinned/welded the muzzle device.

Was WAY more work than it sounds like.

Pinned and welded?

Sissy.

ETA: was supposed to be assembling my 14.5 SOCOM upper too, but apparently security forces (they're pretty much infantry, you know) have the roads blocked at Andrews and I'm trapped in an area with no gate access. So I'm stuck for a while. Some 15-minute PHA this turned out to be.....

I got some parts in from brownells.

I installed a LPK into the Quentin Defense lower that's about to receive some KAC parts

I pulled the buffer tube out of my Daniel Defense lower and put some effort into smoothing out the buffer spring and tube via frog lube.

I also installed the .625 gas block onto my DD pencil barrel and did a quick mock up on an upper for it.

The coming week should have another KAC SR-15 E3 upper finished and another nearly done which lacks a handguard and brake.

I took the bolt catch out of my Quentin to install a Seekins bolt catch.  They thread their lowers for a setscrew so it's quite easy.

I did the final assembly of the KAC E3 upper with the Anderson slick side receiver, Mega Slide Lock CH, URX 3.1 13.5" and a YHM 1/2-28 7.62 brake.  It only took one shim to time.

I'm still having to wait on a BCM pistol grip for that lower but essentially the rifle is ready to shoot.

I swapped out the upper receiver on my M&P Sport (got it in a partial trade earlier this year). I got some great deals on Aero Precision upper receivers for 2 builds I'm doing, so I figured I'd change out the Sport receiver as well. It just bugged me not having the FA and dust cover for some reason.

Perhaps I'll take the mags out and put them in the padding pocket, or maybe just get a smaller stock lol

I totally agree, but around here your trigger needs to start with a "G" to be cool.

I only have 3 Geisseles.  4 LMTs.  3 KACs.  1 CMC.  1 Armalite.

Someday I will have a cool gun

I also got the gas tube installed onto that 20" Faxon gas block gunner barrel.  I'm going to do a quick mock up of it and the URXIII Rifle length I have coming to see how much clearance there is for that flip front sight.

I'll probably end up using a 14" handguard for that barrel.

Mocked up my KAC URXIII rifle p/n: 30005 with a Faxon rifle length gas 20" barrel.

That rail would work quite nicely with that set up but it is bound for another E3 assembly that I'm hopeful to get soon whenever the post office finds the money order they lost.

I tested out my 1/9 twist, Windham Weaponry (Green Mountain) barrel, with some 75 grain Black Hills ammo. It grouped very well, no keyholes, nice and tight. The American Eagle XM193 grouped half as well but still nice. It was insightful to see the somewhat different points of impact as well. It was nice to see a 1/9 barrel could shoot 55 to 75 grain ammo just as tight as a 1/7 twist can.

Took down a Noveske 300BLK upper with a NSR-13 and mocked it up with a KAC URXII 7 3/16 PN: 25124-3

The barrel is destined to be cut back to 8" since it has a pistol gas port.

I will also have to SBR the lower it rides on eventually since it is a gen1 Noveske with a KAC trigger guard.

I have been wanting to convert my 14.5" to a Recce-like gun. Had a spare Harris, but no mount, so I installed a sling swivel in one of the preexisting holes in the lower part of the rail. Works fine. Now I just need to actually spend money, and buy an optic.

Today...

I installed a LaRue Micro T2 on a 6920

I bought another 6920 with no furniture

I scoured the house for the magpul furniture set I had in anticipation of the ordered;

and then I stripped the allen screw on the magpul trigger guard, forgetting it's an allen rather than a push pin :/

I removed my first URX from this gun:

I also pulled that KAC barrel from the MUR and installed it in an Anderson LW upper.  The new rail which went on that upper is a KAC URXIII Rifle length PN 30005

I also installed a Vortex Viper PST 1-4 MOA on that upper.

The URX 3.1 10.75 p/n 30590 is now mocked up on a Daniel Defense pencil barreled upper.

I'm also in process of building another lower since my parts arrived today.

Installed a freshly repaired Nightforce NXS 1-4x24mm scope on a pencil barreled Dissy upper. Took it to the range and zeroed it. It's a Spikes/AIM barrel so it's a nothing special chrome lined mid-gas job. It shot about 1.5" to 2" at 100yds, a little better at 200 yds (3.0"), minute of head shot at the 300 yard steel gong. Last but not least our range in Nampa is equipped with a square steel plate at 550 yds. It's fairly large...say 20" x 20"? and hit it 19 for 20 using Nightforces FC-3G reticle.

When I arrived back home I removed the A1 flash hider and replaced it with a spare AAC M4-2000 Q/D 3-prong and figured I'd re-zero it next range trip.

Well, you asked!

Did you set the gas block flush with the barrel step? I'm thinking that was the issue with the whole Nuttnfancy vs LaRue funfest a few months back. Something regarding the LaRue barrels not being profiled for handguards? Might be worth double checking.
