Putting together a new build. I am just NOT a fan of two-stage trigger. And I was looking for something alittle better feeling than the standard basic mil-spec, for this build. Does any one have of these? http://www.spikestactical.com/lower-kit-spikes-enhanced-parts-kit-p-422.html Do you like? What does it feel like? Is it worth the extra money? Bottom like, would you recommend this trigger?? Also is that the same trigger as this one? http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XSTSLA02BT Any other thoughts, options, or comments about this would be appreciated. |
| I think the ALG ACT is a great trigger but it's a milspec trigger coated in nickle boron and teflon and tuned by giessele for a smoother pull but it's not a match trigger by any means. I never tried the spikes but I hear the ACT is better so I never went for it. |

YES What does it feel like? crisp no creep, probably 5 lbs Is it worth the extra money? to be honest, I got it included with a cpl rifles I bought slightly used years ago so I'd say it's worth an extra $50 or so like my ACT Bottom like, would you recommend this trigger?? Yes, the whole lpk is a bit steep but if u need it all... Also is that the same trigger as this one? NO, that looks like a nicer trigger and not just a slightly upgraded mil trigger http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XSTSLA02BT Any other thoughts, options, or comments about this would be appreciated. Simply put, if you're looking for a "wow" trigger, you should get a wilson ttu or other single stage like cmc, timney, etc. The Spikes NiB and ACT are nice if your current mil trigger is on the heavier side with some grit. TTU is my favorite and I'm even a fan of 2 stage triggers (have g2s, ssa-e, s3g). My ACT is probably a lb heavier than the spikes but may be due to being shot much less at this point |

I have the trigger that is in your first link. It came installed in a Spikes complete lower I ordered last year. It is only a slight improvement over mil-spec imho. I wouldn't pay the extra for that trigger as an improvement over a mil-spec trigger. I'd probably just upgrade the hammer/trigger springs on the mil-spec. Also imho...I think that lower parts kit is a bit on the pricey side for the "extras" you're getting. The trigger in the second link looks like a different animal altogether...and I have no experience with it. |

Yes, I need a full lower parts kit (lpk). I can not find with a anything better than the slandered mil-spec trigger. I could not find just this trigger for sale on Spikes website, which is what got me to wondering if they were the same thing or different. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XSTSLA02BT I am open to suggestions if any one knows of a complete lower parts kit (lkp) , that come with a better than the slandered mil-spec trigger. I like the single stage, and something that will not break the bank. Because that is really what I am looking for, and thought I had found it with that Spikes enhanced kit, |

Check into a LPK minus the FCG from PSA or maybe White Oak Armament and look into something like a J P E trigger.
J P Enterprise single stage trigger 2 out of 3 of those Spikes Battle Triggers were great for me, as were 2 LWRC NiB fcgs, all these were better than the one ALG-ACT that I purchased. This happens in mil-spec parts at this price point. Personally, the best single stage triggers that I installed were in the DD LPKs I installed, (this is no guarantee yours will be equals when installed), Luck of the draw seems important in a FCG, until you get to the next price level. I much prefer a good 2 stage FCG for many of my rifles, still kept (and use) a few good single stages with different springs. A good trigger is a good trigger, most triggers can be acceptable, a bad trigger sucks. The people who use the JPE triggers seem to love them, check them out. I think maybe the best single stage to be found. Edit- There are a few LPK options listed at the WOA site I linked. |

Because that is really what I am looking for, and thought I had found it with that Spikes enhanced kit, I went with a Geissele Super Dynamic Combat Trigger ( it's 2-stage) and a Build-Your-Own LPK from Red Barn Armory. The Super Dynamic 3 Gun (SD-3G) Trigger is single stage and an option, along with the ALG triggers and others. http://www.redbarnarmory.com/RBA-Build-your-own-LPK-p/rbalpkcustom.htm |
| Spikes Battle Trigger and a set of JP springs make for an outstanding single stage trigger with not a lot invested. Use the yellow trigger and red hammer springs to avoid any light primer strikes. While I'm sure you can pay alot more for a trigger, this come yields a pretty clean, crisp one with zero creep and it's built up on a standard parts. |
