Spikes has the shorty Vortex.  I have a few of them.  Rainier had a single chamber brake, I believe.

Here is the short Vortex:

This or maybe the new ALG brake or AACs single chamber offering. They're all similar.

John Thomas over on the Retro Forum made a shorty Duckbill for me for a lightweight project. Not much longer than a thread protector.

You can say that again! (Mostly because I can't hear you)

We were shooting under a large tin cover this weekend, and holy shit was it loud.

Yeah, my 10.3 was reason #1 for getting a suppressor.  People hate that thing at the range, with just a flash hider.

I have a Rainier Mini-Comp on my M&P Sport, damn its loud!! It's only a plinking gun, but I love the mini comp. Short, light weight, does its job as a comp, and throws tons of flash even in bright desert sunlight

Really?

I run one of my DD 10.3s with an AAC flash hider, never suppressed, and it's shockingly range friendly. Never a single complaint, or even sour look. This guy here:

Now, my other two DD 10.3s have brakes. When I run them without a can, I surely get some sour looks.

Not an AAC flash hider, the single chamber brake that Monkey_Wrench posted a pic of.  It's brutal.  On short barrels the muzzle flash is clearly visible even during the day.

Yeah. I know.

The AAC single chamber brake on a 10 incher would surely be a beast.

Alaska said that he even had a 10.3" with a flash hider that people at range hated. I was just pointing out that I have a DD 10.3" with a flash hider that is quite range friendly.

The Simple Threaded Device(STD) adds about .600" to OAL and is much more user friendly
