I have a DPMS sporticle, the upper has always been sloppy in the lower and I finally got a hold of a new upper, when I put the new upper in to see how it would fit, it's sloppy too. Has anybody had and solved this problem without actually installing a new lower? I have another lower and the new upper is tight in that lower, as is the DPMS upper so the DPMS lower is just a little wider than it should be. I do not want to call the DPMS lower a wash, I prefer some elegant solution which allows me to keep the upper AND lower together but tightens up the fit.

Thanks,
Jack

An accuwedge for maybe 5$ at most would drop into the lower and tighten it up for ya.

This will work.

I don't know why you'd ditch a lower solely because you have some uppers that don't fit tight on it.  The "sloppiness" really isn't a big deal.

Does not effect accuracy or function, stick a wedge in there, or a couple yellow foam ear plugs.

Not a problem. Normal. Even my 2k KAC mod 2 has a tiny amount of play.

Don't shove worthless crap into your rifle for no reason. Keep shooting and drive on.

Whether you like it or don't the AR was desinged to have some play between the receivers. However, you will find some receiver combos will fit tighter or not so tight than others. Luck of the draw or however you want to look at it. Shoot the thing & be happy.

To answer a few questions, it rattles, it's that loose, drives me nuts. I don't know what an accuwedge is, when I get home I'll look it up. Thanks!

Everybody that has previously posted is correct.  It won't hurt anything, and it is commonplace in AR's.  That being said I hate it myself.  Cannot stand rattling rifles.  The accuwedge mentioned above should improve it for you.

Got some accuwedges on order, thanks to everyone for your help, never knew such a thing existed. I REALLY don't want that rattle and it's nice to know there is a solution to tighten it up.

Thanks,
Jack

A less expensive and readily available option is to slip a rubber o-ring over the front lug.  When you close the upper, the o-ring takes up the slop between the upper and lower.  If the ring gets squeezed too much and fails then install one with a thinner cross-section.  Works like a charm.
