Just bought a used but new/unfired and I believe it's the Patrol Carbine M4/A3. Wyndham Maine factory.
Paid $550 for it. Anyways I want to buy Magpul furniture for it. Do I need carbine length fore end? Also is my buffer tube mil spec or commercial?
Thanks

Just note that you're not stuck to commercial buffer. A bushmaster is mil spec lower so you should be able to get a mil spec extension and put on a mil spec stock if you ever wanted to. You'll need a wrench though which can be bought for less than 15 bucks. That's a fyi.

It's not a mil-spec lower but that doesn't matter. You can use either mil-spec or commercial receiver extensions with any lower.

Don't get caught up in this "mil-spec" marketing crap. Mil-spec guns are meant for the mil & there are no 100% mil-spec ARs on the commercial market. Sure, the quality brand names like Colt, BCM, DD, etc., have some mil-spec features but none are 100% mil-spec. Just look at a quality brand that has the features you want & go from there.

Yeah the whole mil-spec thing seems over rated. Think I will hang onto this rifle and maybe swap out buffer tube and get Magpul furniture. Any options on a rear site and any other opinions are welcome. Thanks so far guys.

And to add to that, I personally really like the CTR. I think it's worth it. Very nice lock up.
Magpul furniture is great value. You guys are so fortunate. I pay an arm and a leg for anything Magpul here in NZ. Currently very difficult to export out of the US.

It's far better to be a great shooter with a mediocre gun than to be a mediocre shooter with a great gun.

The shooter makes the difference, not the gun.

Stopped by Quantico Tactical last nite. Bought Magpul Moe kit FDE (stock, hand guard, grip and vertical pistol grip) for $76 and two gen 2 30 round pmags for $8 a piece. Gun looks pretty cool now.

The original Bushmasters where made in Windham Maine and they were bought by Remington and moved out.  The original employees then began Windham Weaponry in the original facility.  The consensus is the original Windham Bushmaster's are very good rifles so you did really well in quality and price.
