A user made a comment in a thread a few weeks ago that advertised weights aren't always accurate. I usually buy firearms physically, but it's not always an option in an industry that has evolved to create entire business models on online sales.

I know Colt advertises the 6920 as 6.9lbs. It's a good base line for comparison, but I'm not sure if that is with a mag, with a loaded mag, or whatever. KAC advertises the SR-15 mod 1 as 6.6 lbs. The URX and  SOPMOD stock alone should make the SR-15 heavier than.the 6920. I don't doubt manufacturers claims, just seems like they. aren't using the same standard.

Can anyone show me stock weights on the SR-15 (picture of the rifle on a scale would be nice), and the weight of a  bone stock 6920? Share weights of other popular models if you wish, it would be nice to see what some of these rifles actually weigh. No mags or optics to make it fair. I Was planning on picking up a SOCOM soon, but if an SR-15 is half a pound lighter, I might just save a little more and go in a different direction. I already have a high quality free floated modern AR though with upgraded everything, was just going for the SOCOM to scratch an M4A1 FSP itch (not a Colt vs. KAC thread, were all familiar with the rifles and the ferociousness of their respective fan bases). Weight is a pretty big factor on this platform though, and .5 lbs is a pretty good chunk on a 6 lb rifle.

Thanks for any help ahead of time.
