I am relatively new to the AR platform. I did complete a build about nine months ago using parts purchased from Ares Armor...it went well and the rifle shoots very well. Now I am looking to build another one...this time I plan to buy an already assembled upper. I'd like your thoughts on this description:

Spikes Complete AR-15 Upper 5.56. It comes with a Spikes Mil-Spec Upper, Mil-spec BCG, Mil-Spec charging handle, 16” Colt Socom Chrome moly 1-8 Twist barrel, 10” Aims sports T-Mark hand rail with end cap, YHM Gas block & tube.

Any input is greatly appreciated

Which vendor? Spikes is a good brand, never had an issue with my middy upper.
I mostly just use their lowers now, and get bcm uppers, but i wouldn't hesitate to go back to spikes

Spikes, BCM, MEGA, Colt, PSA ("Premium Only" products), and now Windham Weaponry are my go to manufacturers of major components of AR products. You cannot go wrong with any of the aforementioned. The complete Spikes upper you mentioned will be nothing less than stellar. Buy with confidence... You got a link of the place to buy what your talking about. I thought you were referencing AIM-Surplus but I didn't see it on their site. But I did see THIS, which is awesome... Who is the vendor???

I am no AR guru.  I do have a carbine build based on a Spikes Tactical upper.  I chose another barrel manufacturer, but I have found the upper to be very high quality and it has performed flawlessly.  I consider it to be somewhat of a bargain within its quality peers, and the quality if superb in my example.

I have owned several Spike's tactical uppers (currently I still have one) and they have been great BUT BCM has a killer sale right now.

IMO get this:

BCM 16'' LW middy

I'm definitely a fan of Spikes. Their stuff is GTG. If I were looking for any of their stuff currently, I'd cruise over to AIM and pick up a complete Spikes 16" middy for $799.00.

Thanks for the input! I feel much better about making this purchase. For those who asked about the vendor, this was a GunBroker.com auction item. I was the winning bidder, so I'll be able to add a second AR to my collection. Thanks again for the help...this is a great site!
