I know that the 16'' version of the rifle comes with an intermediate length gas system that's a bit longer than a mid length.  Is this still the standard gas system in their 14.5'' version of the rifle or do you lose the intermediate length gas system when you go 14.5'' ?

Same gas system in their 14.5" and 16" rifles.

Oooh, that's saucy.  So in my next life I'm going to ask to come back as an Investment Banker... Thanks for the info.

Yhe KAC 14.5 with it's heavier profile barrel and intermediate gas is definitely a soft shooting rifle. When I zeroed mine while prone, I had to double check that it cycled correctly cause it felt like it barely moved.

So it goes 16'' for pencil weight barrel profile and then the 14.5'' is a lightweight profile?

The current 14.5" is a dimpled medium profile barrel. They have been discontinued and command a hefty premium right now though.

The next 14.5s won't be released until at least 2015 from what I've heard. I believe they are going with LW profile barrels for the new generation of 14.5s.

The current/old dimpled 14.5s are works of art and shoot crazy soft, but are pretty hefty. Like block II upper hefty.

LW profile for the 16" and the 14.5 isn't anything close to a LW as AR-Ryan stated

The 16" upper actually weighs less than the 14.5" upper due to bbl profile

LOL... I did the same the 4 or 5 first shots out of my 16"... So, can't imagine how soft shooting the 14.5 must be...
