I have a buddy trying to build an AR with a slide fire stock.

What upper receiver would you recommend for a slide fire stock?

I have one on a DPMS upper but I doubt it'd make a difference on which one you used.

I'd use a melonited barrel (low wear, there are some cheap ones) if your going with a 16" a midlength gas system for slower cycle rate, and a muzzle device or brake that can keep you on target. I haven't installed mine yet but I but SBR'ed by lower and build a 4" 22lr upper for mine, and bought a suppressor.

I would recommend a melonited or chrome lined heavy barrel (to withstand the extra heat from mag dumps).  Gas port at the midlength location if you want a barrel shorter than 20".  Don't spend too much on it because your going to burn the barrel out.

Here is my thread on building a bumpSAW.

I say pass on the Slide Fire...with that said, if the decision to get one is set, I agree with the others saying not to spend too much on it.

I would skip the slidefire and get a Bump Fire Systems stock for $100.  Or if you like doing things yourself then build your own.  I think my home made stock looks pretty good.

Since the stock is actually a fixed style why not use a 20" A1 or A2 type upper.
