Trying to install some colt extractor springs on some of my BCGs as an upgrade.  Some of the extractor's accept the spring fine, but it almost seems as if the copper spring is a little narrower of a coil than the standard spring.  In some extractors, the spring won't clip in because of this.  Has anyone ever heard of or experienced similar issues to this?

Do you mean the Colt spring is smaller diameter?

It seems to be.  The entire coil is less wide than a normal spring.

I guess I don't understand your issue. If it is smaller it would still fit in the pocket, right? What is causing you concern?

He probably means that normally the spring base is a little larger than the hole so you can press it in and it stays in the extractor without needing to be held in.

I thought that was what I said, but in other words. The new spring he is using is smaller in diameter than the spring pocket in his bolt and extractor.

This won't cause an issue. Just hold it in place while you insert the extractor pin. Once the pin is in place the spring is captured.

If not already familiar, the extractor spring's expanded end (side with wider coil) is pressed into the extractor. Also, this is the same side of the spring the extractor spring insert is placed in as noted in the blueprints below.

Are all of your extractors from the same manufacturer?  I'll bet there's some difference from one brand to another in the maker's tolerances for the spring's location on the extractor.

The real fix is to just push the spring HARD into place - it should go in with a bit of a snap and stay in, even if it takes some effort to get it there.

The colt springs are in spec, the extractors are not.
