I am fairly new to the AR obsession/addiction and just bought a BCM 16" mid-length upper.  I have an old Bushmaster lower with a carbine buffer/tube.  Going to switch out the stock and wanted to know if I should install an H or H2 buffer instead of the Carbine?  Goal would be to increase buffer weight to stay on target better with follow-up shots.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend the following.

Spike's T2 Buffer

David Tubb Flatwire CS Spring

I run this in all my mid-length AR's and they run great

Increasing the buffer weight is not going to affect your ability to stay on target but will affect the cycling of your weapon.  I would suggest just going with a standard (2.9 oz) buffer.  Total weapon weight is your best stabilizer.  The heavier the better.  Since you are already using a mid-length barrel it is most likely heavier than a typical carbine barrel.  This should help your recovery.

I don’t know that I would say it is necessary, but even the military is switching to heavier than standard buffers.
For my weapons  I mostly run H2 buffers.
