So I'm in the market for a new AR.  I want something different and got it down to 2 choices.  Which would you pick
1.  Spikes Compressor 300blk
2.  LVOA 14.7 Upper with SANTAN Lower 5.56

Now if you didn't have to do all the ATF paperwork for the compressor, would you choose that?  Or would you choose the LVOA?  I didn't want the hassle and cost of the ATF Tax stamps to automatically turn you away from the compressor.   I'm torn between the two, but I'm about 52% compressor and 48% LVOA.  Let me know what you think!

Thanks!

Is the tax stamp an issue for you? Do you already have a SBR or a 300 blk? If your answer is no to those and you want something different go with the Spikes. If not I would go with the LVOA. In saying that I do not know a lot about the LVOA but I have owned a lot of spikes stuff and have never had an issue and they have great CS and warranty

I think you should buy what you want. Bear in mind that it is taking almost nine months for a tax stamp to come back. As for the Spikes .300BLK, in addition to the price of the weapon, you will have $200 for a tax stamp and then there is the cost of the ammo. If this is not your only AR and you can afford to buy plenty of .300BLK ammo, then I see no problem owning one. If this you only AR, then I would recommend to go with the 5.56 since brass-cased ammo is a lot more reasonable and plentiful. I would look at other 5.56 setup in addition to the LVOA. Again, the decision is yours alone.

I don't have a 300blk yet, I'm truly just torn.  Part of it is the tax issues, but most of it is the caliber and SBR. I have neither.  But the LVOA is awesome!  Thanks for your input!

Their both the same as far as cost.  2 tax stamps for the spikes, plus the gun itself.   I already have a 14.5 pinned AR so 300blk seems like the way to go.  Anyone know how the ATF wait is now?

With a gun Trust, that's also gonna cost another $200.  If you had the extra money for all the BS stamps and trust + the compressor, would you buy it?

If I wanted a .300BLK and had the money to blow, wanted to go through the paperwork for a trust, submit my applications and the $400, and wanted to wait three months for my stamp to come back, I would consider it. Right now, I am waiting on a stamp for my current SBR that is in the final stage before assembly. The bad part is that I cannot mate the upper and lower until I have the stamp. That should get here sometime around March 2015. Buying a SBR and a suppressor through a Class III dealer means that you will not be able to take possession until the stamps come in.

Spikes Compressor - $2,750 + $400(SBR & Suppressor) 300Blackout/SBR/Suppressed
Total would be around $3,200ish

LVOA Upper - $1,950  Badass 5.56
SanTan Lower - $290
Total would be about $2,240ish

I've got a MilSpec AR 14.5" Pinned and Welded Barrel that's been upgraded.  I don't have an SBR, suppressor, or 300blk

With that said, if you guys had the choice between the two, would you spend the extra 900 some dollars for something new?  Or, get a badass, top of the line, unique 5.56?  I know it's my choice in the end, I'm just curious to see what the majority would pick and why?  Ammo is a good reason not to go 300blk, but it's the one and only Spikes Compressor!  Than again, mist the one and only LVOA!  Hard choice....lol

Thanks in advanced for the comments and help!
