I have acquired an AR Pistol that had some rust in the recess of the barrel extension. There is also about 5-6 very small pits as well. I have been able to get it cleaned put and as of now the active rust has been stopped. The bore and chamber are bright and shiny. The barrel is 1/7 stainless chambered in 223.  My question is this. Is this going to be an issue with safety? TIA

No, will not be a problem.  Just continue to be diligent and regularly clean and oil your rifle like your life depended on it.

This, shit happens.  Not anything I'd be worried about safety wise as long as you stay on top of it.
