This is my 4th lower build and I have bought my buffer tubes all from the same local store. I just installed this one and something is not right, it seems like there is far to much thread on the end. So much thread I can not even get my stock to lock into the first position. It is both a mil-spec tube and stock.

| I'm not seeing a "problem." That stock shouldn't give you too much problem with going OVER the threads. Metal is stronger than plastic, and at worst it'll just need some extra push to get the stock over the threads for a while, until the inside of the stock is worn enough for clearance. |

I guess I just never ran into this before and didnt know if it was considered normal. On my previous 3 builds and even on my store bought the threads did not go out this far so I thought something was wrong with it.
Is it actually common for the stock to not fit over the threads, and you just need to slam it forward and force it to wear down? |

Just to check, your buffer retainer pin IS properly retained by the buffer tube, right? Not just by a hair, but good and retained? |

Yes the tube is all the way installed correctly over the retainer pin, either way that would not adjust the distance from the end of the threads to the first notch for the stock. I guess I can slam it down on the ground a couple times and wear in down a bit |
