Im pretty sure this wont be a problem, I just want to get a second opinion.

I was running some dummy rounds through the new bcg when something caught the bolt. After removing it and inspecting I found this.

I tried to get it to catch again and no luck. Is it safe to shoot, I dont want my face to get blown up

Safe to shoot with that small chunck missing from the leading edge of the bolt lug. The rear face of the lugs engage the barrel extension. But,,,

A brand new part should not have that kind of imperfection and not be able to be damaged so easily. I would return it for replacement or refund. If it was made by a quality maker, they should not have any problem making it right.

send that shit back, I have a BCG that doesn't look like that after slam jamming a laser bore sight in a chamber (not on purpose), bashing it's guts out from the muzzle end, using the BCG to peen over the shell of the boresight to the point where the BCG would come out of the receiver extension so I could get the upper off. I'll spare you the rest of that sordid story.

That area of the lug is not involved in bolt lock up, but that should not happen.
If it were my weapon that is a puzzle I would want to solve before firing the weapon.

Talked to the company, they say it was most likely that way before coating it in NiB. Replacement is on its way thanks for the replies.
