| Sportsman Guide is advertising a double drum 100 rnd mag for AR's for about 1/2 the price of the Beta Mags. Has anyone tried one of these, are they any good (look exactly like the Beta C) Just thinking it would make a good first mag for a SHTF scenario. |

Has anyone tried one of these, are they any good (look exactly like the Beta C) Just thinking it would make a good first mag for a SHTF scenario. The Cmag clones were made in Korea so far as I know. Here's a link to an old thread on ARF discussing them |

Beta C-Mags and the Korean copies are generally regarded as this:
Most of the ones you'll buy, if you keep them well lubed with the powdered graphite, will be barely unreliable enough not to trust your life to. Granted, if you have one and it runs 5 full loads without any FTF's then maybe you can put it into SHTF rotation, but only as long as you have graphite lube and only as long as you don't get it wet. And buy spare feed towers as the bullet tips have a tendency to drag grooves in the front wall. Now that the Beta patent has long expired, buy a Korean drum for range fun, buy a X-Products 50-round drum for SHTF. |

I would not trust my life to a Beta mag much less a knock off. This. And having 100 rounds in the AR makes it almost miserable to carry. Your not going to be walking around with it slung snug to your back either. I'd much rather have GI 20's, 30's, and even 40 round Magpul mags for that... |
