I'm looking at two rifles, a Bushmaster MOE Dissipator or a Ruger SR-556E.  What I would REALLY like is a Colt LE6920 SOCOM but I just don't have the money.

Anyway one obvious difference between these two is that the Bushmaster is direct impingement and the Ruger is a piston gun.  Anything else to consider here?  Also has Ruger eliminated carrier tilt and if so how?

Your two options are definitely apples and oranges.  If it's only those two to chose from, get the Ruger.  Otherwise take a good like at Spikes from AIM or one of the Freedom carbines from Palmetto State.

Save up for the rifle you want. It will be worth it in the end. I was going to settle for something less, but I waited a couple more weeks until i had enough for a 6920. Not saying they are the best, but it is what I wanted. And i am so glad I waited.

I second this. No matter what, if you want the LE6920 and you buy something else, you WILL regret it. Keep what money you have, and save up the rest for the Colt.

Haha colt puts crap out now. Dont buy that unless you want a rifle that looks like it was drug behind a semi. Too many good rifles these days....and I own a 6920

I hate to add another brand to look at but like others said check out Spike's Tactical. They make great products and stand behind them 100 percent. AIM or Primary Arms usually has them for a good price.

Get the LE6920 for $900 and add a KAC rail for another $100. You will come pretty close to a SOCOM.
