Hi guys, new to posting, but been reading here for a while. I got my  Colt 6920 today, and noticed in the user manual it says to use .223 and doesn't mention 5.56 anywhere. 5.56 is stamped on the lower and on the barrel but I was just wanting to make sure that it is ok to use?  This is my first AR.

If the barrel says 556 then you're good to go

Shoot 5.56mm  all you want; the Colt is built to shoot 5.56mm

That's what I thought. Just weird there is not a single mention of "5.56" written in that manual at all.

Just a question, is it ok to dry fire this fire arm?

Dry fire away, you're not going to hurt anything. It's .22 rimfire guns you're not supposed to dry fire a lot, so don't worry about it.

I do not dry fire. Pull the charging handle back until it in gauges the Hammer face. Pull the trigger and let the bolt go.

You can dry fire as long as the upper and lower are assembled and the BCG is in, otherwise, don't do it...

This.  DO NOT drop hammer against the frame of the lower.

You can fire 5.56 or .223 through your 6920 since it has a 5.56 chamber. Enjoy. You've made a fine purchase.

Field stripped to get familiar with this thing and then put it back together. When I have the bolt locked back, the charging handle slides pretty freely. Should this happen?
