My post ban ( Windham) Bushmaster with a 20" hbar chrome lined barrel was to heavy for me due to shoulder problem. Found someone who wanted to swap my 20" barrel, tube, handguard, sight for his 16" carbine length Olympic Arms barrel. We swapped them out and now it is much easier for me to hold and handle. The Oly isn't tapered nor does it have the cutout and is 4140 chromemoly
Any thoughts on the Oly barrel and did I screw up by swapping. Thanks, y'all. Rob |
| While Oly sometimes gets a bad rap on this site, they have been in the "commercial" AR business longer than anyone else. I do not own an Oly rifle but do have a number of their barrels, both chrome-moly and stainless. They are all superbly accurate and a good value. |
| Too late, sucker! (Just kidding.) I'm not going to say "a barrel is a barrel is a barrel" but American gun companies have pretty much figured out how to make barrels. Shoot it and have fun. If you ever have any doubts about whether you made a mistake, ask yourself this: "Do I have an AR I can shoot and carry now, as opposed to leaving in the safe because of my shoulder? Why yes, yes I do." |

Everyone is saying in a very "nice" way that you got hosed. I would have kept the BM and bought a better barrel. From an accuracy standpoint the Oly barrels are better than Bushy barrels-if that's what the OP is looking for. One of the only things that Oly produces in an AR that isn't junk is their barrels. |
