I have a DPMS with a heavy bbl. I am in the process of replacing some parts and have run into a problem. I have removed the flash suppressor, but the crush washer will not go back over the threads. I think I am going to have to cut it off.

I have a couple of questions. First, can I pick up another crush washer at a hardware store or auto parts store? Second, what size will I need (width and thickness)?

Thanks!

It should "un-thread" with a little encouragement. It's also considered a one-time use item, since it deforms to suit the amount of torque applied to time the FH, so don't re-use it. Order on-line, or see your local AR dealer.

No. They're AR-specific parts.

Thanks for the help guys!

I figured it was an AR specific part, but didn't know for sure. I appreciate the fast replies.

When you get the crush washer off, throw it in the garbage and get a peel washer.

Yes, cut it off  .  I had the same problem with crappy crush washers that I got from Brownells. I used wire snippers, but was preparing to use a Dremel cut-off wheel. Don't force it back over the threads to get it off  or you will ruin the threads.

No, but a lot of AR suppliers sell them, Mc Master sells them as peel away shims.
