I zeroed my Aimpoint Pro at 50 yards. I co-witnessed right from the get-go but had to make some adjustments as I worked through the targets (from 1 thru 6 as pictured).
1. Am I good-to-go up to 200 yards? 2. Will I lose my zero if I detach the Aimpoint from the upper? Many thanks! http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b603/BornIn1776/zeroar15_zps683f4922.jpg |
| Excellent shooting and you're good for 200 with red-dot or irons. When you use different ammo you'll have to touch up that zero, but it will be close. When I say 'good for 200', it means you would hit a torso target within about 4" of your aiming point. It would be difficult with irons or a red-dot but you could make fine adjustments at 200. The thing is that wind begins to be a factor at 200, and you may not be able to shoot tight enough groups to make sight adjustments meaningful, so you waste a lot of time and ammo chasing your sights. I'd call it good. If you have to shoot at an enemy at 200, and he cooperates by standing still, and the wind isn't blowing too hard, and you're not shaking too bad, you'll probably hit him. |
