Seems they are going the way of the dodo.
Does FN make the double chrome 1:7 16" carbine with pinned sight? Or something comparable? anything with a pinned front sight is proving difficult to find. This will be more of a durability build for a buddy. ETA: wants 16" (no pinned flash hider) carbine CHF double chrome machine gun steel. Sort of an M4gery. Thanks for all the replies so far. Giving me some Ideas.

I guess it's double thick because they are saw type barrels? Is that a misnomer? Quoted:

There's that "double chrome" thing that people keep saying... I don't think it means what you think it means... I guess it's double thick because they are saw type barrels? Is that a misnomer? A lot of people seem to think that they are chrome lined twice, but that is not the case. Double thick is accurate. As far as the FN barrels go with thick chrome lining and a pinned FSB, I don't recall ever seeing those. The only actual FN barrels I've ever seen are like M16 barrels and stuff, which do not have the thick chrome lining because they are made for the military and the military doesn't call for that. Unless you mean barrels made by FN to other brand's specs, like Noveske or PSA barrels. |

I just don't know if he'd want to take the time/gamble with PSA shipping times. But as it's his first (Anderson Blem from Cope's) I'm trying to keep the cost low so his soon to be wife doesn't kill him or me. |

CMMG has barrels in stock with the pinned sight. Don't know about the "Double Chrome" feature. I can't see it making that much of a difference, though. I've seen regular chrome lined barrels last 50,000rds.+. I know it doesn't mean much but he has his heart set on it and I don't want this to turn into my build. So I let him have SOME freedoms. ETA:but thanks I'll check them out |

PSA is probably one of FN's biggest distributors
and there are a lot of uppers that have pinned FSB and FN "machine gun steel" double chrome lining upper assemblies There site seems a bit broken right now and I cant navigate to barrel assemblies, but they have a bunch as well Trick with PSA is to check often and be a facebook fan |

These will be first builds and I want them to feel like they are making progress in a timely fashion. I may have to bite the bullet and have him do it though because I can't find another anywhere and it is what he wants. Otherwise he'll end up ordering from CTD

Here lately I've been more of the mind of getting up the tools to do all the work myself and force myself to learn. Pinning FSBs is a project I may be able to do or get help with (brother is a machinist) but the last thing we want to do is jack up a friends first build and turn him off to arguably the easiest gun to build. |

He wants to emulate an M4 but with a 16"barrel (no pinned 14.5), so he WANTS a pinned FSB. That seems to be the problem with what I am finding. Seems there is a lack of that style barrel WITH pinned FSB. |
