My department did its quarterly qualifications yesterday and one of the department issued patrol rifles,a older(2006) Bushmaster patrolmans carbine, would drop the hammer upon the pull of the trigger, and then again on trigger reset.  Pull the trigger,bang...let off the trigger, bang again.  This is a semi auto only rifle.  My initial thought was to replace the entire FCG but before I do I wanted to ask and see if anyone here knew exactly what was happening and possibly save me swapping out a lot of parts I don't need to.  Thanks in advance!  TJR

I am betting on the disconnector, but JIC; do the FCG and move on.

Worn disconnector or disconnector spring.

Since you are LE and it is an LE rifle, call Bushmaster. I would suspect that they will either service it for free, or sent the parts to your armorer to have them swapped out. Take the gun out of service until it is fixed.

I would replace the entire TG since is a Department rifle. The hammer isn't catching  when letting pressure off the trigger..

It's out of service.  I have a full BM armorers kit available with lots of spare parts.  I'll just replace the entire FCG.  Thanks for all help!  TJR

Before you do, see how fast you can shoot with it.

If it's a department rifle, I would imaging ATF wouldn't care.

It will fire a 2 shot burst super quick, and then it won't reset.

Definitely a disco/disco spring issue. I'd just replace the whole FCG if not the entire LPK (if disco is that worn, other parts may be as well)
