I have a RRA Varmint with the 20" barrel.  I also have a line on a 24" upper of the same make for what I think is a reasonable offer.  I have read the posts (20" vs. 24") but they all seem to be from the POV of  "one or the other.  My question is will I see enough of a  difference in performance from  200-400 yards with the 24" to justify its purchase?  A new rifle is always a good thing, but if the performance enhancement is minimal, I may hold off and buy a rig in a different caliber.  Thanks for you time and for our advice.

At those distances, the gained velocity will not make a significant difference on your drop.

If you are shooting past 600 yards, it might help with some lighter weight loads from going trans-sonic.

Stick with the 20".

No, not at that range. 600 and beyond yes and only if that 24" is new.
If your goal is to shoot small groups way out you need to start with a new
barrel and take care of it. Later! Frank
