| I'm gathering parts for a dedicated truck gun as well. What is your plan to keep it secured? Assuming you're planning to? I don't work in the best area so I'm trying to come up with a decent option to secure the rifle, but it still be fairly quick to get to if need be. Of course, I drive an extended cab Ranger, so my options are more limited than most. |

My rear seats fold down so I'd like to put this rifle in a suitcase sized pelican case back there |

That would probably be the way that someone with skills would do it lol |

You need one or these for your trunk gun. Makes them fit a little easier http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w424/cfaulkner0006/IMAG0002.jpg I'd say the cost of that defeats the purpose of a truck gun, but when we consider what he's working with already, it really doesn't ha. |

That's what I figured after I saw his parts list. |

You gonna leave the stickers on the glass if you leave the gun in there all the time? Seems like at the very least it's potentially asking for a broken window or two. This those are steal me stickers get a bike cable lock and lock the rifle to the back seat at least. I do this with my 870. |
|
Those stickers are probably inviting the wrong kind of attention but they've been on my truck for a few years and no problems yet, although I do agree it's better to be inconspicuous vs advertising. Lol as far as my spare parts I agree I'm an AR snob but this is how I look at it- your truck gun is likely the only primary weapon you'd have available should something ever terribly go wrong. I don't think it should be made of lower quality parts, after all that's theoretically all you'll have to get you back to your home and family or out of a terrible situation.

I have a super cheap build for the purpose of my car rifle but that is mainly because I am waiting for a tax stamp to clear for another SBR. Then it will take over the role. |

This is the policy I'm building mine under. But it will still be cheaper than yours ha. Mine will be more KISS(fixed carry handle and all) based though, so it's easier to go cheaper and build with quality in mind. I have to agree about ditching the stickers. First thing I do with gun/NRA stickers is give them away or throw them away. Plus I'm nobody's billboard. |

Well he didn't say that and he did say he was going to remove the 51 and replace it with a Surefire. Quoted:

Pretty sure it's 14.5 pinned and welded to legal length. Well he didn't say that and he did say he was going to remove the 51 and replace it with a Surefire. It's pinned and welded, by replacing the AAC with a SF I meant send it to ADCO. Sorry if I caused any confusion. |

No reason to apologize, you just said you threw these parts together and didn't mention any pinning or welding. I wanted to make sure you realized that without the pinning and welding you assembled an SBR. Spare parts (LPK, stock parts, stock, etc) and the upper was already assembled but was a spare as in didn't have a dedicated lower, it's been kicking around in my safe for some time now. |

Well here is a another line of thought. When your pulled over for any reason, it conveys a message that your packin' to the officer. Maybe he's a veteran, or he could be a nervous Barney Fife. Either way, I'd pull the stickers to avoid any unnecessary situation. ETA: I take that back. I do have a Spikes Tactical decal on my vehicle. But it would take someone in the know to recognize what that is. |

The following is a true story.
Leaving work my wife calls asks me to swing by cvs to pick up her prenatal vitamins. I'm taking a left through am intersection that has a yellow light. I clearly should of stopped and waited but I went through it and it was my fault all day long. Cop behind me lights em up and pulls me over. He asks do you know why I stopped you. I reply yes sir I went through a yellow that had turned red in the process, my fault. He runs my license and reg and comes back and says, your free to go have a good night.......(long pause) nice stickers. He gave me a smirk, turned and walked away. Now I'm not saying that they influenced his decision and I agree I'd be better served to take them off (considering the potential for break in) but they certainly didn't hurt in this instance. |
