NRA competitions...only one range locally that holds those. Everything is USPSA, IDPA, IPSC, or 3-Gun.
More and more competitions are becoming more "tactical" and require movement along with precision. I believe this is the "new" way that competitions will go. If the NRA wants to keep hosting matches, they need to follow suit. I personally have no interest in NRA matches, as I shoot USPSA and hopefully 3-Gun eventually. |

Quoted: While attending shot show, I met with the director of general ops for the NRA and he explained that NRA competitions will be going in a different direction if not a direction at all. So I guess looking for a different way for us to compete in the future is in order. I think I speak for a lot of people in saying that I hope NRA competitions doesn't go anywhere. Isn't that the whole reason the NRA was founded for in 1871, " for the promotion of firearms marksmanship and competency". I am just worried about the direction of the shooting sports we know and love are going. So you joined this site to complain in the wrong forum?

Action shooting is the future of the shooting sports. Around here there's not much for formal bullseye competition. It's mostly silhouette shooting and action shooting. There's CMP Service rifle, but I don't think anyone in the area does NRA highpower. NRA lever action silhouette does have a pretty good following. IMO most people get more of a kick out of knocking over steel than punching holes in paper. |
