So I bought an AR15.com stripped billet lower receiver for the special black Friday sale and I'm just now getting around to putting it together.

So since it's an ambidextrous lower it comes with a little baggie of unique parts.

The unique parts that came with this lower included an extended bolt catch buffer and two threaded pins, one pin is used in place of the bolt catch roll pin and the other is used to pivot the ambidextrous bolt catch on the right side of the receiver.

When I put everything together I had to use a standard bolt catch spring and it doesn't seem to be long enough to let the bolt release function from either side of the lower.

Was an extended bolt catch spring supposed to be included with the parts or am I just a hopeless noob that forgot how to properly assemble a lower receiver?

I hope this post makes sense to someone.

The parts should have a long detent for the bolt catch spring, then you install a factory stock detent on the other side of the spring.

Congrats on the lower, it's the finest lower for the money out there!

Ah now that makes perfect sense.

As is always the perfect arfcom solution, get both!

Works perfectly now, thanks.

One more question, the hole for the takedown detent spring on my lower looks to be threaded for a set screw but one was not included, is this actually the case or am I dreaming?

I love those lowers, of they made them without the logo I would own 2.

It may be threaded as an extra but yay is not the norm. I just ordered 3 springs from PA because I lost one.

Here's a picture of what to me looks like threading in the detent hole.

The lower didn't come with a set screw so I don't know if I should buy one and see or just forego it and set it up regular style.

Who should I ask for an official arfcom answer anyway?

BTW, I'm amazed I was able to take this picture with my phone and have it turn out this well.

It sure appears they are now threading the hole. Both of mine are early production units.

Set it up as normal. I got an arfcom billet as a merry Christmas to me present and assembled normally.  You do not need a set screw for the safety detent.

Edit. Pic or it didn't happen:
To match my upper.

That upper looks awesome with the arfcom lower.

Well done.
