I'm not sure if this animal even exists, but I figured if it does, somebody on here would know.  I'm looking for a forend that has a FSB cutout that is NOT a free float.  Basically, I just want to pop out my midlength MOE and drop this one in.

Midwest Industries gen2 2 piece.... but you have to cut of delta ring

Troy's description says it's a free float, plus it's like $300.  Looking for something a little cheaper.

Nevermind.......it's a midlength.

Samson used to make an extended midlength rail.

They still do, but you will need to cut of the delta ring.

You have this but it's not extended.
https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=3216

Or this but it's FF and expensive. It is 2 piece and utilizes a mil-spec barrel nut.
https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2734

This would be a good choice but it's not extended and FF. The price is right and you wont have to remove your FSB.
https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=689

Without free-floating it, it will be difficult to drop in and be extended. I'm sure there are other rails available as well. Personally, I'd go with the Centurion and cut the handguard cap, delta ring etc. off. You won't have to mess with your FSB and you'll have a solid set-up. It's pricey but, IMO, worth it.

They're kinda heavy and ugly, though.

Only company I know of now that makes them (at least they are still cataloged) is UTG.

Probably not the answer you wanted, but UTG stuff is made in the USA.

Most likely. What you're looking for is kind of a weird niche. I can't imagine even UTG would sell many of those. ETA: And the fact that you have a mid-length is really going to make it an oddball product. I don't think you're going to find anything that will work.

It's complicated to make an extended rail that's not free float, because it still needs some way to mount against the handgaurd cap that's behind the FSB. If I may ask, why do you want something that's not free floated? Is it simply a cost issue? Or is there another reason?

You're safe!  The rail is for a carbine gas system, not a midlength.  IT would be a no go for you anyway.

Try Samson.

Basically cost.  By the time I buy a FF handguard, new gas block, new front sight, and have the old crap taken off, I'd be better off buying a new upper outfitted.  Not looking to spend that right now.  What I have works (acid tactical tri-rail barrel mount), but the more I look at it, the more I want something better looking.

That's still a free float rail.

You can use a free float rail without changing your gas block. You just need a FF rail with FSB cutout. You'll remove the gas block, change the barrel nut (if the rail doesn't use the stock one), and then install the rail, and lastly the gas block. If the rail uses a stock barrel nut, you don't even have to remove that. You can cut the delta ring off with a grinder or cutoff wheel and save a step.

I'm not sure if anyone makes a 2 piece, free float rail with FSB cutout, but if so, that would probably be perfect for you. You wouldn't even have to remove the gas block, and the 2 piece rail would just install around it.

Your "non-FF" criteria is a red herring.  Looks like you want a FSB cutout rail you can install yourself w/o removing the FSB etc.   Your best bet is probably the Centurion that I know of, street price is $266, less than any other quality option I've heard of.  I don't see a way around cutting off the delta ring.

http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Centurion-Arms-C4-Rail-System-Carbine-Cutout-p/centurion%200609-cc.htm

Here's another: http://www.amazon.com/Troy-SRAI-CHR-CXBT-00-Charlie-Battle-Rail/dp/B007TR61L4

Troy "Drop In" Charlie rail, they have a few different flavors of this concept of rail.

Edit: Troy's description "...do not require removal of the delta ring, barrel nut or fixed front sight. Troy's new Drop-in free float rails are the easiest to install and most versatile free float system available on the market."

Either Google, eBay or amazon "quad rail with forward extension". I think that's what ur looking for? I have a cheap one on my gun and yes it's bulky and a tad heavier than the $200-$300 rails but I can work around it for $40.

Daneil Defense has one, and it is actually lighter than the Magpul plastic MOE stock.
Mounting a light in front of the front sight is winners too.  Especially going over, under, and around barriers.  having the light betwen the sights and barrel is awesome

i still say the charlie/ delta rail. I get what your saying about gunsmithing and costs, but you dont have to do anything except for getting rid of the sling swivel. also its closer to $200 (if you can find it in stock that is).

just buy the utg and be done with it.  It will serve your purposes and you wont' have any issues with it.  If it were not made in America then I'd say spend more and get the Samson (midway has the carbine extended on sale from time to time)

FF is kinda overrated anyway for most shooters

What's your exact setup right now? pics?
Last week I went from a 7" free float rail over a carbine gas system with a railed gas block to a low profile gas block and POF free float rail (with new barrel nut) for less than $120...
From this:

To this:

Search "POF Rail" and "Low Profile gas block" on ebay
rail was $99 and the gas block was like $12

posted on local facebook groups and found a local guy that let me borrow a wrench and a vise block

DONE

Friends don't let friends buy POF.

Chop your gas block, Midwest Industries FF of choice, stick a fork in it.  Your wallet will be less than $200 lighter.

Thanks for the info guys.  I've emailed a few of these companies to see what they say about fitment.  I'd like to keep this under $200 if possible, but in the end, I'll spend what I have to get what I like.  Mine is just a M&P MOE.  I'm using the Acid Tactical mount.

I REALLY like that, but a little more than I'm looking to spend right now (but not totally out of the question).  That would probably convince me to go FF, lol.

Its not hard to take the upper appart and put what every you want in there. Try asking for help in your homeland sub forum. Lots of members would help you out. I would do it for free if your in the San diego area. Get a good Free float rail and be done with it. Buy once cry once.

I looked at the UTG unit myself some time ago and also didn't use it due to weight. It someone came up with one out of composite with heats shields in the same configuration it would be a great option.

I think for right now, I'm going to try one of these.  I like the feel of my MOE handguard, I just wanted something better looking for the light mount.  If this this doesn't work out, then I guess I'll bite the bullet and go with a good quality FF handguard.  I just don't really like how big most of those are, and you can't tell how they feel over the internet. The MOE fits my hand almost perfect.  Thanks for the help.
