| Looking to build an M4 but I need some input. I already have a bushmaster but am wanting to build one. I was hoping some of you guys could give me some input. What kind Upper, Lower, bolt carrier, and trigger mechansim should I go with. I want the best product as money is not the issue. I have never built one before so this is new to me. Thanks Guys. |

Start with a lower from BCM, LMT, Noveske, Daniel Defense, or a smaller boutique like Quentin Defense.
As far as BCGs go, same. And barrels. For your rail system, consider a LMT MRP, or a 2pc design from the above companies. For a really nice gun, get a Daniel Defense upper and lower and the new BCM KM10 or KM13 rail system. Put a SOPMOD on it. Aimpoint Micro. And about 50 magazines full of 5.56x45. Carry on. |

Spikes Lower from gunbroker for 85 plus 20 transfer fee.
A trigger-less lower parts kit from Palmetto for 30-50 depending on a sale. Start with an ALG QMS trigger for 45 or go with a Geissele SSA for around 195. Buffer tube kit from BravoCompanyusa for 57 dollars. A stock from Magpul. MOE or CTR, 50-70 dollars. The B5 SOPMOD stock is nice, I used them on 3 builed last month. USgunsource has them for 85. Either a Spikes tactical bolt from DSGarms for 150. Or a BCM bolt for 189. I like putting my uppers together. But Ive bought a bunch of uppers from BCM. Get a 16 inch midlength gas system. You can do the standard with front sight for 479 and add a 30 dollar handgaurd. Or you can get uppers with already attached rails for 650 and up. I really like Troy VTACs and the Geissele MK1. I have a few DD quad rails, great products but slightly outdated and heavier. Throw in a BCM gunfighter charging handle (medium) for 45 dollars. Troy flip up sights, a pair for 150 at Aimsurplus in stock last I checked. Get good optics, ammo, mags (Lancer or PMAG) and blast away. ETA: If you want to build an upper, get a 16 inch midlength barrel from BCM 239 as I recall. Low profile gas block for about 45, gas tube for 13. Barrel nut is about 8. Muzzle device of your choosing. Stripped Uppers can come with bolt assist and ejection door installed for around 90-110ish depending on brand. |
| If you want an M4, and by that I understand you to mean an M mother-effin 4, not a modified M4, not a recce/SPR, nothing with a midlength but an actual M4 notched barrel and collapsible stock and drop in hand guards with a front sight post you should just buy a factory one. Probably BCM or Colt are your best bets. |

Thanks Guys. buy as much as you can from lwrc (trigger, lpk, etc)...what you cant' get (barrel) look at dd, bcm, Noveske SS, ....bcg, as long as it's carp or 9310 bolt you'll be fine |

For just a project/fun build there are so many options that would give me an AR-erection.
Finding a lower that wouldn't kill me in price, and quality might kill me though. It's hard to find quality parts in this town, without going on the internet. But I have this fascination that I like to touch everything before I actually buy it. |
