I've been researching uppers and decided to purchase a Sionics Patrol Rife I Upper:

http://sionicsweaponsystems.com/upper.html

Not a common name in ARs but I've read several good reviews.  I was considering a BCM mid length but like Sionics' 1:8 twist, medium/light profile, 41V50 barrel.  They also Air-Gauge, Radiograph and MP Inspect each barrel (instead of HP testing).  At $370 (which includes a Magpul MOE hand guard) I thought this was a great deal.

I'm interested in seeing if anyone else has a Sionics and what their experiences have been.

Thanks in advance.

They are local to me here in Tucson.  They make great ARs.  I have one of the patrol rifles and it has performed very well, have over 700 rounds through it will zero problems.  I would recommend.

Thanks, Sanausol.  My understanding of Sionics' "medium/light" profile barrel is that it's heavier than an A2 under the hand guard but lighter than a medium contour barrel...is that accurate?

That is pretty accurate, I would say it is similar to a socom profile under the handguards but lighter past the gas block.  I really like the profile on it actually, pretty light but seems like it could stand sustained fire pretty well.

Great, that's what I thought...I also heard that it balances very well since the weight is more centered.

Anyone else out there have experience with / feedback on Sionics?

Some companies don't have the PR and publicity reach as others, Sionics is one of them.  Based on the specs and how they're put together (by folks that really know ARs), they may be one of the best kept secrets of the AR world.

I've just recently discovered them as well. I will be buying a barrel from them. I ideally would want a 14.5 lightweight midlength but the 1:8 chrome lined is really what all manufacturers should be making.

I was leaning towards a DSA chrome bore upper for $300, BUT to get a 1/8 mid length barrel supposedly made by DD for $70 more is enticing. Has anyone shot a Sionics enough to provide a good range report?
