| Why are they being used in semi autos? |

Quoted:
Their more solid, have more mass, heavier. Depending on your application, weather you want to be detailed as in retro or want a carrier group that won't fail under a lot of stress. Are there pics and reports of failed carriers? I am all about the increased mass, shrouded firing pins, and the reliability of cycling, but I had not seen the reports of the failed carriers. I have many FA BCGs, but I do own 2 DD SA BCGs which have the shrouded firing pins. In a 16" midlength, I feel they are right at home, and would operate forever without issue. |

I've never seen a quality carrier fail (not counting any gas key issues), and I don't expect to. The chrome RRA BCG in my son's 16" mid works perfectly, and short of a kaboom, we expect it to for a long time. |

Why are they being used in semi autos? I'd say no real reason other than piece of mind. I cannot say that a semi auto bolt carrier has made my carbine gas AR unreliable or not. I haven't had any cycling issue traced back to the weight of the carrier and I have not had any issue shooting midlength or rifle gas AR's with a S/A bolt carrier either. |
