I have searched and read and can't find what Im looking for. I have a buddy who is getting me a deal on a Colt6920mp (25% off of original 1167.00 sticker). This gun is primarily going to be used for yote hunting, and kids will use for whitetail deer. Shots will be out to 200yds with most being around 100yds. I have no intensions of doing anything to this gun other than put a 3x9x40 scope on it. My question is can I do this with the fixed front sight?
I'm not a big fan of tall risers since I have no neck and its a little uncomfortable to raise my head up but some guns are better than others. I've been told cutting the sight off would be better than putting a set screw block with rail on. True??? I'm not worried about reselling or anything but I could just buy a factory replacement and put back like stock right?? With your suggestions please include links to parts if you suggest I buy something. I'm new to this and decided to get a good one from jump instead of trying to piece together one on the stripped lower that I have. Maybe that will be next year. |

You can leave the front sight alone. My 1x4 in a Larue mount is on the same focal plane. The sight looks through, around the FSP. On 1x I can barely see a shadow, past that, the shadow disappears. With a 3x9 you won't know its there. Yep - leave the front sight alone, you won't even notice it's there. Larue makes an excellent mount here, or look here for a bunch of other choices. American Defense is good, as are the JP, Vortex, Leupold, Burris PEPR, Nikon, etc. |
