| Okay fellow forumers I'm sure this topic has been talked about numerous times before, but what would be the order of factory produced AR's? I personally have a Daniel Defense and love it. I've had Smith and Wessons, DPMS, and Colt rifles before and DD is IMO the best thus far. I'm wanting to stick to factory DI rifles. No piston or custom shop guns. Fairly new still to this forum but I'm trying to get involved. So any input you have would be helpful. Thanks. |

Every person will have a different order. Just stick with brands that are reputable, have track record for quality equipment, and adhere to standards and you should be ok. This is pretty good advice. I'll add another to the list... Rainier Arms RUC series. |

Just as with cars, it almost impossible to have a clear list. There are always "boutique" makers out there too, which often take it up notch even further. IMHO, there gets to a point of "diminishing returns" where gobs of extra $ get you almost indistinguishable "improvement/upgrade". If often just comes down to the psychology of "well it cost more, so it must be better". Kind of like buying a ROUNDER wheel. |
| It is all going to be chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. Although I own BCM, DD, Colt, Noveske, my favorite is---- LMT. Whatever turns your fancy, they are all highest quality rifles...............I also have a Spike's carbine with a melonite DD HFB on it that I am especially partial to. I have it right now over at ''Birdsong's Black-T'' getting it done in brown Teflon for a ''Brown Recluse''----it is my bedside gun. |

There are SO many good options for under 2,500 that you'll mostly find personally preferences in those who post responses here. If I had that kind of coin to spend, I'd go for a KAC SR15. Not necessarily the "right" answer, just an answer.
Edit: people that answer with something like "this and nothing else" have likely owned "this" and not much else, and aren't open to the fact that there are many quality builders out there making top notch rifles. LaRue, KAC, Noveske, LMT, Colt, BCM, DD and many others are all excellent choices. |

And despite having a fairly broad range of ownership compared to most folks on here, your 3rd post is on the "Which one's best" topic that has been covered in ~ 3,000 other threads over the years? Is that a fair summary? |

My opinion is that when you are dropping that kind of cash it usually comes down to a purpose driven debate.
Figure out what role this rifle will fill then look at makers that cater to that purpose. Even if you build it yourself, same thing, the parts will depend on the role. |
| Thanks Hobo. Good analogy. I love my Daniel Defense and it's never going anywhere just looking for some input. Mainly I'm just a weekend warrior who appreciates a well built machine that is both dependable and gets the job done. My first AR was the DPMS Sportical about 6 months ago. I got it for trade of a SKS and Taurus 9mm. Had my fun with it and have moved on to bigger and better things. Like I said just looking for some insight. I knew to begin with it would be quite a bias thread and I'm ok with that. |

I asked a very similar question about 2 weeks ago. The manufacturer that had the largest number of votes was DD. Again, the old equation:
Hobo Great post.........
Couldn't have put it any better. |

Pick the one you think looks the best. I own several of these brands (Kac, BCM, Spikes, Palmetto, DD) They are all great in different ways. I think that my Kac is the nicest but if your not left handed it loses a lot of it's advantages (the lower). Hell I sold mine and bought another rifle with the money I got from it. Also Its bolt is fantastic but I can buy two complete bolt carrier groups for the price of a replacement KAC bolt. Buy something you can run hard and don't mind scratching up.
Keep in mind that the price you pay for your rifle will double when you add accessories, (optics, mags, grips, stocks, rails, rail covers, vertical grips, lights, brake/flashider, ammo, ect ect.....) Keep in mind that a lot of people are going to throw brands at you to justify their purchase and most of those people have fired less than three different brands. Otherwise the wouldn't be saying "my brand, then all the others" |

My thoughts, FWIW: IMO, it's hard to really put these rifles into any order that isn't subjective. I can argue that KAC makes a better BCG than BCM but Noveske makes a better barrel than KAC. That's the way I see it, you may not. Number 1 on the "pecking order"; the rifle I build with all the best parts put together. Yes, the Franken-15 is the best. YMMV.
The only thing that bugs me about building my Franken-15, is every manufacturer keeps laser-engraving their fucking logo's in big white letters all over their shit.
Flame away my friends!!!

You could build one hell of a rifle for less than buying a high end complete rifle, and put the best components in it. Pick the upper/lower reciever you think looks the best and go from there. I'm building a noveske rifle with a few better parts than I can get if a buy a complete rifle and I'm doing it for considerably less. |
|
In no particular order, just alphabetical:
Bravo Company Manufacturing (BCM) Colt Daniel Defense (DD) Knight's Armament Company (KAC) LaRue Tactical (LT) Lewis Machine & Tool Comapany (LMT) Noveske Rifleworks Spike's Tactical Rainier Arms looks like they're up and coming. Hearing good things about them. I think if you stick to these brands, you'll be fine. |
|
LMT (because monolithic with QC barrel system and multiple calibers)
KAC Noveske/VLTOR DD/BCM/Colt. Probably go with DD since they're doing their own integral suppressed rifle, however BCMs are probably just as good. Colt is being fielded obviously, but I still think a Noveske rifle is better than a 6920. Now, given today's ability to send stuff to ADCO or other companies willing to make your gun exactly as you want, I think a better rifle can be attained because it has exactly what you or I want in it. |
