Hey guys, I'm a recent AR15.com reader, and a first time AR owner as of today. Of course I've always wanted an AR variant of some kind (what red blooded American boy didn't want an M16 his whole life?), but only recently started seriously considering making a purchase. For obvious reasons, the moment I started looking into the world of ARs, this site has popped up for almost every search I made. So before introducing my new AR, I just wanted to thank everyone here, the multitude of knowledgeable and enthusiastic owners and lovers of these awesome machines. Thanks a ton!
I haven't posted before today, just been doing reading, and found a lot that helped me make my decision. I just picked up a SIG516 from a local shop, and needless to say I'm anxious to tear it apart, clean it, and take it to the range. Please no hate for the SIG! I know, I have read that a few owners have had malfunctions, but a good deal more have said nothing but good things. This rifle has almost everything I wanted in an AR (piston, quad rail, good weight), at an attractive price (for a piston AR), and the majority of owner reviews love the way it shoots. I can't wait to find out for myself. http://s24.postimg.org/vu9881h51/IMG_20131023_212136_099.jpg Now that I've purchased, I'll only be coming back here more for the endless advice and knowledge. This is just my introductory post, to say hey and add my rifle to the lineup. My own personal review of this rifle will come after shooting it, so this thread will get updated when that happens. So far, my first impressions... the fit, finish, construction, quality, etc... feels and looks great (minus the coat of grease that's glaring up my photos). Does anybody have any first time owner advice or tips? Best way to break in a new AR, and test all functions to make sure I've got a properly working unit? (Just in case the complaints about Sig's quality control are true, and I'm one of the unlucky ones). Thanks again |
