| I have a bcm 14.5" with pinned fh, bcm Bcg and bcm charging handle on the way. I recently bought a complete Spikes lower to mate with it. I was just doing the math and $$$wise ill have more in this than I spent on my Colt 6920. Will this be considered a decent combo? I have a 20" bcm upper on a Stag lower that is a fine weapon. Guess I'm just wondering if I spent wisely. |

You didn't say what you spent on the new build so it's hard to say. Sounds like you spent a bit more than you could have but it all depends on what you built in the lower. I have a build with close specs to what you list and have $780 in it. That includes the transfer fee for the lower.
As far as the combo, should be a solid shooter. |

I don't build. $722 from BCM including shipping. $320 with tax for a complete Spikes lower. $130 with tx for MI hand rail and I already have a sight got the gun. I could have bought another Colt with this amount but I've never seen a Colt with the14.5" pinned fh barrel. Oh well it's only money |

Yeah. I have basically the same setup. 16" hammer forged middy on Spikes lower. Fits like a dream. The upper and lower wasn't quite as much as a Colt but after it was all said and done, yes. Here's mine..So far: http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a629/wishyouwell40/IMG_3308_zpsb4a97e18.jpg I like that....a lot! |

I just bought one from one of our industry partners for $270 with free shipping, no tax, and my FFL does $10 transfers |

It was brand new all spikes for $300 and I didn't want to try my hand at building a lower as I'm not very mechanical. |

I have maybe the same upper, I built the lower and I have around $970 in it, not counting the optic. |

Not building the lower is what got you. IIRC I put my complete Spikes lower together for well less than that. I also prefer spikes uppers since they are usually a fair amount less than a comparable BCM unit.
Which rail did you get? I'd take a MI Gen 2 SS railed Spikes or BCM over a colt any day of the week. |

Don't count the MI hand guard and you're about even with the 6920. I would think that's a better compare. You've got a solid build. The extra few bucks wouldn't concern me a bit. That is a good point and actually makes me feel a little better about the $ spent. Thanks! |

As far as spending wisely, I believe so but it depends on who you talk to I suppose. Some will say you're a dumba$$ for buying anything but a Colt. For me, I got rid of my last 6920 in Jan but I still have the BCMs. There was certainly nothing wrong with my 6920. They are great rifles. Someone just wanted it more than me and I couldn't pass it up. I never shot it anymore. If they come out with a mid I'll be all over. That's just me though. |

I think you also need to factor in WHEN you bought your components. If you bought during the "madness", the all prices would be artificially inflated, and you need to factor in the "need it now, or never get one ever again" factor. A Colt 6920 from Walmart, though, is a tough deal to beat. The variable factor there is availability. |
| Just put together a new build myself. Spikes lower with eLPK, ambi safety, BCM upper with BHF 14.5 middy. DD 12" Lite rail, Magpul CTR stock, Fail Zero BCG, ST-T2 buffer, Tubbs CS Flatwire buffer spring, Larue QD FUG, Troy BUIS, Aimpoint M3 on Larue QD mount, Aimpoint 3x magnifier on Larue flip to side mount, Surefire 300a light on Larue QD mount, Crimson Trace Railmaster laser, Magpul ASAP and MS3 sling...think that's it. I definitely didn't do the math on this one, didn't wanna know!! LOL |
